Lauretta P. Cheney, age 89, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on November 12, 1934, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Verdie Olen “Pete” & Flora Pearl Bursk Simmons. A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and the Lee Richardson Zoo both in Garden City, Kansas.
On January 25, 1953, she married Howard E. Cheney in Garden City, Kansas. He passed away on November 22, 2012, in Scott City, Kansas.
Survivors include her Two Sons - Greg & Phyllis Cheney of Manhattan, Kansas, and Gary & Julia Cheney of Scott City, Kansas, Two Daughters - Judy Thomas of Scott City, Kansas, Karla Sharpe of Scott City, Kansas, Nine Grandchildren, Fifteen Great Grandchildren, and One Great Great Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, and One Son - Glen Cheney, and Two Sisters & Brothers in Law - Alberta & Adam Rupp & Melba & Frankie Barber.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas with Don Williams presiding.
Memorials In Lieu of Flowers can be made to the Park Lane Nursing Home or the Lee Richardson Zoo in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO Box 553, Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Price & Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St., Scott City, Kansas, 67871.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
