L.D. Parkinson

Louis Davidson "L. D." Parkinson, 92, died Thursday January 3 at his home in Scott City after a long illness. He was born in Rexburg, Idaho on November 29, 1920, one of eleven children born to Henry G. Parkinson and Hannah A. Parkinson of Rexburg. He graduated with honors from the University of Idaho in 1942 where he received a BS in Agricultural Chemistry. A talented public speaker and livestock judge, he won many individual and group awards in both state and national competitions at the high school and college levels. On November 3, 1945 he married Louise V. Heyne of Red Lion, Pennsylvania at Tacloban Bay, Philippines where he was serving as a naval officer and she an army officer in WWII. Louis had previously served in North Africa. Later during the Korean War, he was stationed in Japan. Louis was a successful farmer and stockman in the Scott City area raising dry land and irrigated crops, as well as hogs, cattle, and horses between 1945 and his death. He is survived by his wife Louise V. Parkinson of the home, daughters Vicki Burr and Beth Tuck both of Scott City, Anne Marchin of Manhattan, and sons Louis "Bo" Parkinson and Daniel Parkinson both of Scott City. In addition, he is survived by 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Richard. There will be a memorial service for friends and family on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City.
