Juan Vicente Hernandez, age 58, died Friday, August 31, 2012 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born October 6, 1953 in Lakin, Kansas the son of Valentin & Guadalupe Mosqueda Hernandez. Juan grew up in Deerfield, Kansas and graduated from Deerfield High School in 1972. A resident of Garden City since 1987 he had been a welder and mechanic.
He enjoyed playing Farkel, shooting off fireworks with his nieces & nephews, going bowling, bargain hunting, gardening, sharing riddles and telling jokes. He was especially proud of his 1970 Deerfield High School javelin record which still stands today.
He married Nancy Snickles in Topeka, Kansas.

One Daughter, Adelita Martinez-Hernandez of Garden City, Kansas;

Abelardo Hernandez of Amarillo, Texas,
Steven Hernandez of Garden City, Kansas,
Natividad Hernandez of Garden City, Kansas,
Valentin Hernandez of Garden City, Kansas and
Jesus Hernandez of Salina, Kansas;
Five Sisters, Angela Ledesma of Garden City, Kansas,
Susanna Rodriguez of Deerfield, Kansas,
Nickolasa Guerrero of Garden City, Kansas,
Maria Searles of Topeka, Kansas and
Rosa Maria Monroy of La Junta, Colorado and
One Grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Valentin Hernandez and one sister, Adelita "Addie" Arellano.
Family graveside services were held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
The family suggests memorials be given to the Juan Hernandez Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
