Johnny K. "Papa John" Lumley, age 43, died Friday, January 11, 2007 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on July 5, 1964 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of Frank H. and Anita Sue Stoker Lumley. A resident of Garden City since 1991 moving from Liberal, Kansas he had been a Bus Driver for USD 457 and the YMCA in Garden City.
He was a member of the Christian Faith and the YMCA. He had various hobbies and interests but enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren the most.
On Oct. 17, 1992 he married Michelle R. Dechant @ Holcomb, Kansas. She survives.
Other Survivors Include: Two Daughters, Taryn Dechant of Salina, Kansas and Sarah Dechant of Garden City, Kansas; Four Brothers, Frank Randell Lumley of Lansing, Kansas, Steve Lumley of Woodward, Oklahoma, Bo Lumley of Jackson, Missouri and Charlie Lumley of Ada, Oklahoma; One Sister, Peggi C. Franklin of Ada, Oklahoma; Three Step-Brothers, Mike Dumler of Tyrone, Oklahoma, Gus Dumler of McKinleyville, California and Steve Dumler of Chandler, Arizona; Five Grandchildren and numerous Nephews and Nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Nancy Lumley.
Memorial Services will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Garden Valley Church Family Center in Garden City, Kansas with Rev. Steve Ensz presiding.
There will be no calling times.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family requests memorials be given to the Papa John Lumley Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
