John Rhoads

John T. "Dusty" Rhoads Jr., age 94, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born August 6, 1917 in Osceola, Arkansas the son of John T. and Beatrice Bates Rhoads. A resident of Garden City since 1998 moving from Amarillo, Texas he was Claims Manager for Texas Employers Casualty Insurance. He was a member of the Baptist Faith and was a WWII US Army Air Corps Veteran. On May 21, 1951 he married Shirley C. Cook in San Antonio, Texas. She died on October 5, 2009 in Garden City, Kansas. Survivors include: One Son, Gary (& Jeanne) Rhoads of Ulysses, Kansas; One Sister,June Welborn of Osceola, Arkansas; Two Granddaughters, Julie Hagerman of Ulysses, Kansas; Sandi Collins of Buda, Texas; Two Great-Grandchildren, Jared & Crystal Hagerman of Ulysses, Kansas. He was preceded in death by One Sister, One Grandson & One Great-Grandson. Private Graveside services were held at Valley View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be given to the Humane Society in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
