JOHN EUGENE LEY, AGE 97, PASSED AWAY ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2006, AT THE WICHITA COUNTY HEALTH CENTER IN LEOTI, KANSAS. JOHN WAS BORN JANUARY 10, 1909 AT SHARON SPRINGS, KANSAS; THE SON OF JOHN FRANK & LILLIE MAE DICUS LEY. HE RECEIVED A DEGREE OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING IN 1931 FROM KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY. A RESIDENT OF LEOTI, KANSAS SINCE 1939, HE WAS A RETIRED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR AND MAGISTRATE JUDGE FOR THE FIFTH DISTRICT. HE WAS A UNITED STATES ARMY TECHNICAL SARGENT FOR THE 178TH SIGNAL REPAIR COMPANY DURING WORLD WAR II. JOHN'S MEMBERSHIPS INCLUDE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH- LEOTI, KANSAS ANTHEM MASONIC LODGE- SCOTT CITY, KANSAS V.F.W. POST #7521- LEOTI, KANSAS K.S.U. ALUMNI ASSOCIATION- MANHATTAN, KANSAS THE AMERICAN LEGION ON APRIL 6, 1941, JOHN MARRIED RUTH ELIZABETH REES AT LEOTI, KANSAS. SHE PASSED AWAY ON MARCH 14, 1998 AT SCOTT CITY, KANSAS. JOHN'S SURVIVORS INCLUDE ONE SON AND HIS WIFE- JOHN R. & JANE HALL LEY- DENVER, COLORADO ONE DAUGHTER- JANE S. LEY- ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA TWO GRANDDAUGHTERS- JENNIFER E. LEY- ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA EMILY A. LEY- WASHINGTON, D.C. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 2:00 P.M. ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2006 AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN LEOTI, KANSAS WITH THE REVEREND PAUL McNALL OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN LEOTI CEMETERY, LEOTI, KANSAS WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS PROVIDED BY THE FORT RILEY HONORS DETAIL, U.S. ARMY, FORT RILEY, KANSAS FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 8:00 P.M. THURSDAY AND FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M. FRIDAY AT PRICE & SONS FUNERAL HOME IN LEOTI, KANSAS MEMORIALS MAY BE GIVEN TO THE WICHITA COUNTY HEALTH CENTER, WICHITA COUNTY E.M.T.'S OR THE WICHITA COUNTY LIBRARY IN CARE OF THE FUNERAL HOME.
