Joe L. Richardson, age 76, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on October 19, 1948, in Erick, Oklahoma, the son of Earl and Retta Richardson. A resident of Scott City, Kansas for the past twenty-four years moving from Dumas, Texas.
Joe graduated from Dumas High School in 1967 and joined the US Navy, where he proudly served on the USS Lyman K. Swenson. He was honorably discharged in 1972.
He married Ida Cartwright in 1972 in Dumas, Texas where they lived until moving to Kansas Joe worked as an operator for Kinder Morgan for 34 years. He was a member of Immanuel Southern Baptist Church of Scott City, KS where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, and Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the Lake Scott Car Club and the Lyman K. Swenson Sailor's Association.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter Ginger Moss of Scott City, KS, three grandchildren, Eliza Larson of Topeka, KS, Shane Pope of Meade, KS, and Jolee Pope of Scott City, KS., three great-grandchildren, Monte Larson and Zaylee Larson of Scott City, KS and Emily Brobst of Topeka, KS. One brother, Wayne and Pam Richardson of Amarillo, TX, one sister, Yulonda Short, of Amarillo, TX, 24 nieces and nephews, and many other friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Clara Bell Richardson and Joy Lou Moss, and one great-grandson, Henry Jacob Larson.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the Immanuel Southern Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas.
