Jess W. Krenzel, age 85, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. Jess was born April 4, 1928 in Augusta, Kansas, the son of Arthur & Lillie Mae Day Krenzel. A resident of Wichita County, Kansas since 1938, he was a 1946 graduate of Wichita County High School. Jess was a farmer, stockman and merchant.
Jess was a member of the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas. He was elected and served on the Leoti City Council from 1979 through 1995, serving as Mayor from 1989 until his retirement from city government. He was also highly involved with the community as a board member of the Wichita County Economic Development Association, Wichita County Amusement Association, 96 Café Board of Directors, former Leoti Bean Day Chairman, Southwest Kansas Area Groundwater Management Association and ran the local Bingo games throughout the community donating the proceeds for the Leoti Christmas Lights.
On June 18, 1946 he married Zelda Jean Heuszel at Scott City, Kansas.

His parents, and two brothers, Mason Krenzel and Clifford Krenzel have preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Mike Howard officiating.
Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday and from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Leoti EMT's in care of the funeral home.
