James Howard, age 73, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on August 15, 1938 in Buffalo, Oklahoma, the son of Otis and Juanita Hall Howard. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1994, he was a cowboy.
He was a member of the Community Christian Church.
After Graduating from Selman High School in 1956, Jim joined the U.S. Navy and was based in California where he was assigned to the aircraft maintenance division. Following his discharge, he moved to Wichita, Kansas and was employed with Cessna. He also continued to play baseball for several semi-pro teams around the Wichita area. After working for Cessna he returned to his real passion of farming and ranching.
On February 17, 1995 he married Dianna Dean in Garden City, Kansas. She survives.
Survivors include: His Wife, Dianna Howard of Scott City, Kansas; One Son, Doug Howard of Norwich, Kansas; One Daughter, Sondra Headrick of Norwich, Kansas; One Brother, Bob Howard of Crescent, Oklahoma; Three Step-Sons, John Kropp of Scott City, Kansas, Aaron Kropp of Scott City, Kansas, Jason Kropp of Butler, Oklahoma; One Step-Daughter,Brandi Powers of Russell, Kansas; and 17 Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his Parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Graveside Services will be held at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas, 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 with Ron Hess officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Jim Howard Memorial Fund % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
Interment will be at the Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, Kansas.
Visitation will be from1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, and 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
