James E. "Jim" Carpenter, age 57, died Thursday, January 11, 2007 South of Garden City, Kansas from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. He was born on December 19, 1949 at Great Bend, Kansas the son of Elbert & Graydon Whorton Carpenter. A resident of Garden City since 1962, moving from Larned, he was an Electronic Service Technician at Hoidale Company, Inc. of Garden City.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed camping, following the Dallas Cowboys, watching hockey and boxing but above all being with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors Include: One Son, Jeremiah Carpenter of Garden City, Kansas, Two Daughters, Jasmin Carpenter of Phoenix, Arizona and Regina Carpenter of Colorado Springs, Colorado, his mother, Graydon Goldsberry of Lees Summit, Missouri, Two Brothers, John and Joseph Carpenter both of Portland, Oregon, Six Sisters, Sarah Peat and Margaret Batchelder, both of Garden City, Kansas, Louise Unruh and Mary Bryant, both of Lees Summit, Missouri, Janet Muldrew of Overland Park, Kansas and Jacki Parks of Iraq, 2 Grandchildren, Brandon & Samara Carpenter of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Jenny Gray.
Memorial Services will be held at @ 11:00am on Saturday, January 20, 2007 @ the First Southern Baptist Church in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Rick Durham offictiating.
There will be no calling times.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, KS.
The family requests memorials be given to the Jim Carpenter Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral H ome of Garden City.
