Irvin C. Stephens, age 86, died Sunday, November, 23, 2014 at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee, Kansas. He was born on October 10, 1928 in Ruleton, Kansas the son of Walter and Florence Albertson Stephens. A resident of Garden City for 43 years before moving to Shawnee, Kansas in 2011. He was a retired Accountant. He worked at Lewis, Hooper, and Dick for 13 years,and for the IRS for 25 years.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran in Overland Park, Kansas; Trinity Lutheran in Garden City, Kansas. Irvin also served as Finney County Commissioner for eight years.
On August 28, 1949, he married Wilma Stephens in Scott City, Kansas. She passed away on March 14, 2006, in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivers Include: One Son, David and Janice Stephens of Lewisville, Texas; Three Daughters, Denise and Roger Holle of Tonganoxie, Kansas, Deanna and Eric Lamer of Salina, Kansas, Dawn and Doug Cook of Lenexa, Kansas; Four Grandsons, Zach Davis of Garden City, Kansas, Zane Davis of Grapevine, Kansas, Stephen of Lamer of Salina, Kansas, Austin Cook of Lenexa, Kansas; Six Granddaughters, Elizabeth Constance of Roeland, Kansas, Sarah McCluskey of Marceline, Missouri, Lori Brown of Kansas City, Missouri, Marissa Lamer of Kansas City, Kansas, Amy Cook of Lenexa, Kansas, Allyson Cook of Lenexa, Kansas; and 6 Great-Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Garden City, Kansas. With the Rev. Lyle Stuehrenberg officiating.
Interment will be held at the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
