Irene D. Metzger, age 93, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on May 20, 1919 in Ellinwood, Kansas, the daughter of John and Bertha Churchill Kasselman. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1950 moving from Kirwin, Kansas, she was the owner and operator with her husband of Wheatbelt Implement of Scott City, Kansas for 47 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Eastern Star of Scott City, Kansas.
On July 3, 1943 she married Carl E. Metzger in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away on January 23, 2003 in Scott City, Kansas.
Survivors include her Two Sons - Ronald Metzger of Medford, Oregon, David Metzger of Scott City, Kansas, One Daughter - Joyce Baker of Austin,Texas, One Brother - George Kasselman of Great Bend, Kansas, Seven Grandchildren and Ten Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, and Four Brothers - Leo, Leonard, Edward and Richard.
Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 with the Rev. Dennis Carter presiding.
Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City.
