Ilene Sperling Wren, age 80, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at her home in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on January 28, 1933 in Liberal, Kansas, the daughter of Frank B. and Lena Brown Sperling. She worked and lived in Scott City, Kansas most of her life except for the short time she lived in Anchorage, Alaska while Leo was in the Army. She worked for 55 years as a clerk in Ideals Food Store, a cook at Scott City Elementary School, nurses aid at the Scott County Hospital, was a care giver for several patients in Scott City and was a cook at the Scott County VIP Center for 2 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Scott City, Scott County VIP Center, Scott County Hospital Auxiliary, Women on Mission, taught Scouts, Sunday School and Bible School for 10 years at the United Methodist Church.
On July 15, 1950 she married Leo Wren in Scott City, Kansas. He survives.
Survivors include her Husband - Leo Wren of Scott City, Kansas, Two Sons - Everett & Gloria Wren of Scott City, Kansas, Rod & Marilyn Wren of Beulah, Colorado, Two Daughters - Leanna & Cliff Fandrey of Williamsburg, Colorado, Starla & Michael Jackson of Canyon CIty, Colorado, Two Sisters - Norma & Kenny Thomas of Garden City, Kansas, Donna Eitel of Scott City, Kansas, One Brother in Law - James Telander of Wichita, Kansas, Ten Grandchildren, Seventeen Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, One Sister Marylee and One Grandson - Sheldon.
Memorial Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 with the Rev. Dennis Carter presiding.
Memorials may be given to the Ilene Wren Memorial Fund % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
Inurnment will be in Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
