Howard Cowles

Garden City, Kansas Howard D. Cowles, age 77, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born March 25, 1931 in Ness County, Kansas the son of Charles & Mabel Wicks Cowles. A resident of Garden City since 1958 moving from Dodge City, Kansas, he was a produce truck driver. He was a member of the Christian faith. On Sept. 26, 1978 he married Leilla Herrell. She survives. Other Survivors Include: Two Sons, Chad Cowles of Wichita, Kansas and Dean Cowles of Garden City, Kansas; Two Daughters, Pam Cowles of Garden City, Kansas and Tonya Slattery of Dodge City, Kansas; Eight Grandchildren and Nine Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael R. Cowles and 2 Sisters, Melba Smith and Marlene Cowles. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the Ness County Cemetery in Ness City, KS with the Pastor Jeff Crist presiding. There will be no local calling times. The family requests memorials be given to the Howard Cowles Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
