HERALD LOUIS WILLEY, AGE 60, PASSED AWAY ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2006 AT WICHITA COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER IN LEOTI, KANSAS. HERALD WAS BORN OCTOBER 12, 1946 AT GIRARD, KANSAS, THE SON OF LOUIS & ALPHA ARD WILLEY. A LIFETIME RESIDENT OF WICHITA COUNTY, KANSAS, HERALD SERVED HIS COUNTRY DURING THE VIETNAM CONFLICT AS A SARGENT WITH THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORP. HE WAS THE ASSISTANT ROAD SUPERVISOR FOR THE WICHITA COUNTY ROAD DEPARTMENT. HERALD'S MEMBERSHIPS INCLUDE- UNITED METHODIST CHURCH- LEOTI, KANSAS V.F.W. POST #6752- " LEOTI MEN'S SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION- " A.A.R.P. HERALD WAS ACTIVE IN LEOTI SPORTS BY SERVING AS LITTLE LEAGUE COACH FOR MANY YEARS. HE WAS A FORMER BOARD MEMBER FOR WICHITA COUNTY LITTLE LEAGUE AS WELL AS A FORMER MEMBER OF THE WICHITA COUNTY PARK BOARD. ON FEBRUARY 29, 1992 HE MARRIED TONYA MELTON AT LEOTI, KANSAS. SHE SURVIVES. HERALD'S OTHER SURVIVORS INCLUDE- TWO SONS- STEVEN WILLEY AND HIS WIFE ROSA- KILEEN, TEXAS K.C. WILLEY- OF THE HOME ONE DAUGHTER- AMBER ELLIS AND HER HUSBAND JEFF- COLDWATER, KANSAS TWO SISTERS- LINDA GEYER AND HER HUSBAND LEO- LEOTI, KANSAS DOROTHY MELINSKY- BLOOMINGTON, MINNESOTA A SON IN LAW- MIKE AMOS- HOLCOMB, KANSAS FIVE GRANDCHILDREN, THREE STEP GRANDCHILDREN, TWO STEP GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. HE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS, A DAUGHTER, TINA AMOS AND A SISTER, VIRGINIA WILLEY. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 10:30 A. M. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2006 AT THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN LEOTI, KANSAS, WITH THE REVEREND RICK JUST OFFICIATING . BURIAL WILL BE IN LEOTI CEMETERY, LEOTI, KANSAS WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS PROVIDED BY THE FUNERAL HONORS DETAIL FROM FORT RILEY, KANSAS. FRIENDS MAY CALL FROM 3:00 P.M. TO 8:00 P.M. SUNDAY AND 10:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M. MONDAY AT PRICE & SONS FUNERAL HOME IN LEOTI, KANSAS. MEMORIALS MAY BE GIVEN TO THE HERALD L. WILLEY MEMORIAL FUND IN CARE OF THE FUNERAL HOME.
