Henry R. Martinez, age 82, passed away on Tuesday, August 10. 2010 at the Greeley County Health Center in Tribune, Kansas. Henry was born June 28, 1928 at Walsenburg, Colorado, the son of Oscar & Fernanda Sanchez Martinez. He was a farmer/stockman and had lived in Greeley County since 1960 moving from Walsenburg, Colorado. He served as a Corporal in The United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Henry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Orville Wetzel V.F.W. Post # 7521 in Tribune, Kansas. He had served on the Horace, Kansas City Council for twenty-one years and was an avid fisherman.
On March 21, 1953 he married Rachel Gaytan at Raton, New Mexico.
Henry's surviving family includes- Wife Rachel- Horace, Kansas Three daughters and their husbands- Darlene & Mark Foster- Colorado Springs, Colorado Loretta & Alan Morgan- Amarillo, Texas Emily & Wayne Moritz- Tribune, Kansas Two brothers- Donald Martinez- Walsenburg, Colorado Robert Martinez- Pueblo, Colorado One sister- Ida Valdez- Pueblo, Colorado Seven Grandchildren, Six Great Grandchildren His parents, four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. ( M.D.T.) Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tribune, Kansas. Inurnment will be at a later date.
There will be no calling times.
