Gordon Kent Janssen

Gordon Kent Janssen, age 89, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. He was born on January 24, 1935, in Lorraine, Kansas, the son of Gordon L. & Lois C. Schmidt Janssen. He was resident of Leoti, Kansas since 1958 moving from California. Kent graduated from John Brown University with a major in Voice and a minor in Piano, and he was a farmer.

He was of the Free Methodist and Baptist faith, directed the church choir at the Baptist Church in Leoti for a number of years, was a men's bible study leader, and was an adult Sunday School Teacher.

On September 2, 1956, he married Thelma G. Novotny in Bushton, Kansas. She passed away on July 9, 2020, in Leoti, Kansas.

Survivors include his Two Daughters - Kimberly Powell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Karol Janssen of Mill Valley, California, Three Grandchildren- Zach & Morgan Powell of Salina, Kansas, Audrey Powell of Clayton, Georgia, Nicole Grinsell of Mill Valley, California, and Two Great Grandchildren - Hank Powell & Olivia Powell of Salina, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife - Thelma Janssen, and One Sister - Beverly.

Private Family Graveside Services will be held at a later date and time at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Burial will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
