Gordon Neil Carlisle, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Brandon Woods in Lawrence, Kansas. Gordon was born June 11, 1920 in Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Ralph & Caldonia Bussin Carlisle. He was a retired Postmaster and Rural Letter Carrier. Gordon had been a resident of Leoti since 1927 until moving to Lawrence, Kansas in 2008. He was a World War Two veteran serving in the United States Army Air Corp. Gordon was a member of the United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post 6752 and was a charter member of the Wichita County Municipal Golf Course all of Leoti. He also held memberships in the National Association of Rural Letter Carriers and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. On September 20, 1947 he married Marie Chambers in Wichita, Kansas. She passed away on April 13, 1995 in Garden City, Kansas. Gordon's surviving family includes- One son and his wife Michael & Gerri Carlisle- Lawrence, Kansas Two grandsons- Darin Carlisle- Overland Park, Kansas Bryce Carlisle and his wife Lorie- Austin, Texas One great grandson Rowan Carlisle- Austin, Texas Numerous nieces and nephews. His parents and a brother, Roy Carlisle, preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be held at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverends Mike Howard and Kyle Evans officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas. Memorial gifts may be sent to the United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
