GILBERT E. KEMPER, AGE 76, PASSED AWAY ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9, 2008 AT ST. CATHERINE HOSPITAL IN GARDEN CITY, KANSAS. GILBERT WAS BORN OCTOBER 25, 1931 IN HUTCHINSON, KANSAS THE SON OF CARL L. & CAROLINE SIETNAUER KEMPER. HE HAD BEEN A GARDEN CITY RESIDENT SINCE 1945 MOVING FROM OKLAHOMA. HE WAS OWNER/OPERATOR OF BOTH KEMPER ELECTRIC AND G & R SECURITIES OF GARDEN CITY, KANSAS. HE WAS CHOSEN AS AN ALL AMERICAN ATHLETE FOR 1950 AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE 1950 UNDEFEATED FOOTBALL TEAM AT GARDEN CITY HIGH SCHOOL. HE WAS A VETERAN OF THE UNITED STATES ARMY, SERVING DURING THE KOREAN WAR. GILBERT'S MEMBERSHIPS INCLUDE- UNITED METHODIST CHURCH- GARDEN CITY, KANSAS GARDEN CITY FRIENDS OF THE ZOO- " AMERICAN LEGION- " MODIFIED MIDGET RACECAR ASSN. HE WAS A FOUNDING MEMBER OF GARDEN RACEWAY. HE WAS AN AVID NASCAR AND KANSAS UNIVERSITY SPORTS FAN AND ENJOYED HIS MORNING COFFEE CLUB. IN 1980 HE MARRIED LORENE M. (RENIE) QUINT. SHE SURVIVES. OTHER SURVIVORS INCLUDE- TWO SONS- BOBBY QUINT- GARDEN CITY, KANSAS JERRY & SHARON QUINT- " ONE DAUGHTER CINDY & LARRY EDMISTSON- AMERICUS, KANSAS HIS FATHER CARL L. KEMPER- GSRDEN CITY, KANSAS A BROTHER- SAM KEMPER- GARDEN CITY, KANSAS TWO SISTERS- RUBY & LOWELL MULCH- GARDEN CITY, KANSAS KATHY & DAVID SCOTT- " TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN, TWO GREATGRANDCHILDREN HE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HIS MOTHER, A NEPHEW, BRIAN, AND HIS TWO DOXIES, CLYDE & TU TONE. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A. M. SATURDAY, JANUARY 12, 2008 AT TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH IN GARDEN CITY, KANSAS WITH THE REVEREND LYLE STUEHRENBERG OFFICIATING.
