Gerhardt Bitter, age 90, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born August 22, 1917 at Hoisington, Kansas, the son of Henry & Katherne Stettinger Bitter III. He was a retired farmer, stockman and dairyman and had been a resident of Garden City since 2003 moving from Galatia, Kansas. Gerhardt was a member of the St. Paul Luthern Church in Galatia, Kansas On January 7, 1940 he married Esther Leona Radke at Hoisington, Kansas. She survives. Gerhardt's other survivors include- A son and his wife Jerry & Donna Bitter- Garden City, Kansas A sister- Elvera Bitter- Hoisington, Kansas A Granddaughter and her husband- Tracy & David Wapp- Bloomington, Illinois Two Grandsons and their wives- Jason & Amy Bitter- Kansas City, Kansas Gregg & Nathalie Bitter- Kansas City, Kansas Two Great Grandchildren- Brevin Wapp- Bloomington, Illinois Avery Wapp- Bloomington, Illinois Gerhard was preceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edwin Bitter & Wilmer Bitter and a sister, Hilda Wilhelm. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas with the Pastors Lyle Stuehrenberg & Marion Heisey officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Fairview Township Cemetery in Galatia, Kansas. Friends may call from noon to 8;00 p.m. Tuesday and from 10:00 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Garden Valley Retirement Village or Trinity Luthern Church in care of the funeral home. e-condolences may be sent to priceandsonsfh.com
