Geraldine L. Mazanec

Geraldine L. Mazanec, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Wichita County Hospital in Leoti, Kansas. She was born on February 5, 1953, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Louis B. & Ida (Wewer) Simons. A lifetime resident of Wichita County, she was a homemaker and beautician.

Geraldine liked going by the name Geri. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandma. She was very involved in her church & enjoyed living out her faith. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church and Alter Society in Marienthal, Kansas. Even in the face of cancer, she remained steadfast and resilient, never losing hope or determination. A hard-working woman, Geri never procrastinated or complained—her life was one of consistent service.

Yardwork, plants, & flowers of all kinds were a great enjoyment for her. Geri adored painting canvases, ceramics, and other art. Spending time with her family and going out with friends were some of Geri’s favorite pastimes. She had an infectious smile and was the life of the party, but she also had a quiet side and loved sitting outside to watch the birds & sunsets. Other things she loved were cooking, sewing, playing cards, & traveling. She now gets to rest and be loved by the Almighty God. She got to go home to a big “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

On June 9, 1973, she married Albin Mazanec in Marienthal, Kansas. He survives.

Survivors include her Husband - Albin Mazanec of Marienthal, Kansas, One Daughter - April & Craig Freeman of Eugene, Oregon, Three Sons - Ryan & Gina Mazanec of Marienthal, Kansas, Dustin Mazanec of Attica, Kansas, Lee Mazanec of Marienthal, Kansas, Three Brothers - Ron Simons of Stockton, Kansas, Donald Simons of Wichita, Kansas, John Simons of Marienthal, Kansas, Five Grandchildren - Wyatt, Joleigh, Ruger, Boone, and Kaydee Mazanec.
