Gerald Duane Mangold, 82, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Greeley County Health Center in Tribune, Kansas. Gerald was born November 16, 1930 at Ogallah, Kansas, the son of Robert & Thelma Marie Zerfas Mangold. A farmer and stockman he had been a Greeley County resident since the 1940's moving from the Ogallah, Kansas area. Gerald proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a Corporal in the United States Army.
Gerald was a member of the former St. Paul Lutheran Church and was a charter member of VFW Post # 7521 both of Tribune, Kansas. He had held all local, district and state offices in the VFW and was elected Kansas State Commander in 1996/1997 during which he was honored as All American Department Commander.
On May 31, 1953 he married Doreen Helm at Tribune, Kansas.

Twelve grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am (MDT) Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Tribune, Kansas with Reverend Larry Barbary officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas with full military honors provided by the United States Army Funeral Detail from Fort Riley, Kansas and the VFW Post 7521 of Tribune, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the VFW Memorial Park Foundation or Greeley County Health Center in care of the funeral home.
