George E. Harcharik, age 82, of Scott City passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on February 1, 1930 in Streator, Illinois, the son of George T. and Anna Catherine Uhren Harcharik. He was one of eight children and attended St. Stephens Parochial School and Streator High School.
George came to Scott County during harvest time of 1948 working for Leo Mulch. He operated George's Derby Service from 1955 to 1967. He was employed with Cities Service Cryogenics and KN Energy until retiring in 1993.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus both of Scott City.
On December 5, 1952 he married Aletha M. Stanton in Scott City, Kansas. She passed away on February 4, 2001 in Scott City, Kansas.
Survivors include Two Daughters - Sheila vonLeonrod and husband Mark of Dighton, Kansas, Shauna Drohman and husband Larry of Garden City, Kansas, Three Sisters - Marcella Edwards of Winona, Illinois, Evelyn Grako of Streator, Illinois and Norma Hoban of Olathe, Kansas, Two Brothers - Ervin Harcharik of Streator, Illinois and Eddie Harcharik of Drexel, Missouri, Six Grandchildren and Seven Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wife, and Two Sisters.
Vigil Services will be held Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013.
Funeral Services will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 with Fr. Bernard Felix presiding.
Memorials in Lieu of Flowers may be given to the Scott Community Golf Course % Price & Sons Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
