Freda M. Scott, age 78, died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at her home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born January 16, 1932 in Lakin, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Edith Stitt Yakel. A lifetime Southwest Kansas resident she had been a sales secretary for Stanion Wholesale Electric.
She was a member of the Bible Christian Church of Garden City, Kansas. Freda enjoyed reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing board games and cards, especially pitch.
On November 5, 1982 she married Wayne Scott in Garden City, Kansas. He survives.
Other Survivors Include: One Daughter, Sheryl Suiter of Randall, Kansas; Two Sons, Michael Fulton of Temple, Texas and James Fulton Jr. of Deerfield, Kansas; One Step-Daughter, Jana Strasser of Garden City, Kansas; One Step-Son, Jeff Scott of Pasco, Washington; Three Sisters, Helen Hayzlett of Lakin, Kansas, Carmen Hayzlett of Lakin, Kansas and Carol Yakel of Nevada, Missouri; Four Brothers, Marvin Yakel of Blue Springs, Missouri, Raymond Yakel of Lakin, Kansas, Wayne Yakel of El Dorado Springs, Missouri and Dean Yakel of Ft. Scott, Kansas; Nine Grandchildren and Nine Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Three Sisters, and Three Brothers, Lewis, Melvin & Merle Yakel.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Bible Christian Church in Garden City, Kansas.
Burial will take place at a later date in the Lakin Cemetery in Lakin, Kansas.
There will be no public calling times.
The family requests memorials go to the Church, Relay For Life or the Pulmonary Hypertension Association all in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
