Frances Embree, age 88, died on Monday, May 9, 2016 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on March 20, 1928 in Kalvesta, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Franklin and Emily McNeal Wheeler.
On June 2, 1946, she married Gene Embree in Dodge City, Kansas. He passed away on Sept 6, 1991 in Garden City, Kansas.
Her interests and hobbies included, woodworking, photography, genealogy, and enjoying coffee with her friends.
She was a resident of the southwest Kansas area all of her life. Frances was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Finney County historical Society, VFW Auxiliary, and the Finney County Genealogy Society.
She is survived by:
One Daughter Debra Hemmert of Garden City, Kansas
One Brother Wayne Wheeler of Holcomb, Kansas
One Sister Betty Jo Sinclair of Independence, Oregon
Four grand children, Tina Embree, Holly Jogia, Curt Embree, Melissa Hemmert
Five Great Grandchildren, Seth Carbaugh, Jade Embree, Juan Castellanos, Rigo Tercero, Irina Jogia
10 Nephews, and 10 Nieces
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gene, son, Gary, daughter, Lana, brothers, Roy Wheeler, Loren Wheeler, and sister Anna Mae George and one great- granddaughter, Brehona Hemmert.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
There will be no calling times.
