Everett Dillen Pritchard, age 77, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Wichita County Medical Center in Leoti, Kansas. Everett was born January 7, 1932 in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, the son of Gus O. & Mary Thressa Miller Pritchard, Sr. He attended school in Lincoln County, Oklahoma and had served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany from 1950 until 1952. Following the wheat harvest as a young man, Everett came to Kansas and worked on the Art Kuhlmann and Ray Sonderegger farms. In 1987, he began work for Collingwood/ADM in Leoti, Kansas, retiring in 1999. Everett loved to spend time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and going to coffee with his buddies.
Everett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he faithfully served as an Elder and Head Usher and the Wichita County Chapter of Pheasants Forever, both in Leoti, Kansas.
On June 5, 1955 he married Margaret Snider at the First Presbyterian Church in Leoti, Kansas. She survives. Everett's other surviving family members include- One son- Larry Pritchard- Stillwater, Oklahoma Three daughters Lori Butler- Stillwater, Oklahoma Suellen Pritchard- Spokane, Washington Leah and husband Rodney Ames- West Des Moines, Iowa Two brothers- Gus Pritchard, Jr.- Mesquite, Texas Robert Pritchard- Stillwater, Oklahoma Five sisters- Almeda Smith- Stillwater, Oklahoma Susie Marshall- Perkins, Oklahoma Naomi Bell- Carney, Oklahoma Rozetta Nettles- Greenville, Texas Phyllis Morris- Harrison, Arkansas Ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Hazel Smith and an infant son.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverends Charles Ayers and Stephen Wing officiating. Cremation has taken place and the family will have a private scattering at a later date. Military honors will be provided at the church by the United States Army Funeral Honors Detail from Fort Riley, Kansas. There will be no visitation.
