Garden City Eunice Smith Bowling, age 95, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2008 at the Wamego Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in Wamego, Kansas. She was born on January 9, 1913 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the daughter of Robert E. and Nancy Smith Rodgers Conatser. A resident of Garden City since 1949 moving from Joplin, Missouri she had been a checker and later the Deli Manager at Walls IGA in Garden City for many years. She enjoyed bowling, traveling the world and at the age of 90, she participated in the Garden City Police Citizens Academy. She was a member of the Bible Christian Church of Garden City, Kansas. On Sept. 23, 1934 she married Arthur Smith at Tucson, Arizona. He died Feb. 29, 1976 in Garden City, Kansas. Then in March of1986 she married "Doc" Bowling. He died in 1991 in Garden City, Kansas. Survivors Include: 1 Son, Dennis E. Smith of Manhattan, Kansas; 2 Daughters, Reta Dale of Lakin, Kansas and Janet Mullikin of Elbert, Colorado; 4 Brothers, William Conatser of Grainfield, Missouri, Merle Conatser of Red Bluff, California, Maurice Conatser of Maryville, Tennessee and Jack Conatser of Calhoun, Tennessee; 1 Sister, Nancy Goodwin of Maryville, Tennessee; 8 Grandchildren, 16 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild. She was preceded in death by 1 Brother, Virgil Conatser and I Sister, Idabel Strong. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Bible Christian Church in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor Jeff Starkey presiding. Burial will take place in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Friends may call from Noon-8:00pm on Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. The family requests memorials be given to Wamego Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
