Ethel Marie Slater, age 92, died Saturday, August 21, 2010, at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born January 9, 1918 in Miami, Oklahoma the daughter of William David and Frankie May Osborne Kelly. A resident of Garden City since 2001 she had worked in the housekeeping department for the Pratt Community Hospital in Pratt, Kansas retiring in 1980.
On April 3, 1937 she married William Henry Slater in Miami, Oklahoma. He died June 26, 1979 in Wichita, Kansas.
Survivors Include: Two Sons, Warren Slater of Ozark, Arkansas and Harvey Slater of Medicine Lodge, Kansas Two Daughters, Melva Vinson of Martendale, Iowa and Karen Livingston of Garden City, Kansas; One Brother, John Kelly of Joplin, Missouri; One Sister, Pat Broyles of Vinita, Oklahoma; Ten Grandchildren, Several Great-Grandchildren and Three Great-Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Denny, two brothers and six sisters.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in the Ellenwood Cemetery in Sawyer, Kansas.
There will be public calling times.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to The American Diabetes Association in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
