Ethel Virgene "Jean" Palmblade, age 91, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. Jean was born September 7, 1922 at Gypsum, Kansas, the daughter of Fred DeWitt & Ethel Winslow Cheney. A resident of Leoti since 1947 moving from Wellington, Kansas, she was a homemaker, secretary and the former owner/operator of Colonial Bokay Flower Shop in Leoti, Kansas.
Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Order of Eastern Star both in Leoti, Kansas.
On May 11, 1941 she married Marvin Palmblade at Kip, Kansas. Marvin passed away on April 29, 1998 at Leoti, Kansas.
Jean's surviving family includes-
Two children-
Patsy & Jerry Eikenberry- Leoti, Kansas
Fred & Connie Palmblade- Garden City, Kansas
Five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Her parents, a brother, a sister and a grandchild precede her in death.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas with Pastor Rick Durham officiating.
Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas.
Friends may call from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday and from 10:00 until noon Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Wichita County Amusement Association or Wichita County Health Center in care of the funeral home.
