Esther Unruh Koehn, age 97, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 Western Plains Medical Center in Dodge City, Kansas. Esther was born February 13, 1917 in rural McPherson County, Kansas, the daughter of Peter J. & Eva Unruh. She had been a resident of Sterling House in Dodge City, Kansas since 2010 moving from Tribune, Kansas where she and her family had farmed since 1944.
Esther was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in Tribune, Kansas. Esther's pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, with whom her exceptional talent as a seamstress she happily made many special outfits, costumes and numerous other sewing projects for her family. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was an avid reader throughout her life.
On October 16, 1938 she married Ed Koehn at Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. Ed passed away on May 2, 1980 in Wichita, Kansas.
Esther's surviving family includes-

Irene Billinger- Tribune, Kansas
Charles (Chuck) & Nadella Koehn- Tribune, Kansas
Her brother-
E.W. ( Bill )Unruh- McPherson, Kansas
Nine grandchildren including Brenda Bruggemann, Jeff Dunham, Barbara Gitt, Beverly Clark, Ron Dunham, Bruce Koehn, Mike Koehn, Steve Dunham & Charene Crosby. Six great grandchildren including Brandy DeVader, Karl Fredal, Esther Bruggemann, Brooke Biermeier, Drew Biermeier & Emily Koehn and her two great great grandchildren, Landon & Drew DeVader.
Her parents, four sisters and two brothers precede her in death.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am (MT) Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas with Jeri Smith officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to the Greeley County Library or the Kuder Senior Citizen Center in care of the funeral home.
