Esther Leona Bitter, age 91, died Monday, February 25, 2008 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on June 16, 1916 in Russell County, Kansas the daughter of Samuel and Lena Karst Radke. A Garden City resident since 2003, moving from Russell, Kansas, she was a homemaker and loved cooking & making quilts for her family & church projects.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Galatia, Kansas.
On January 7 1940, she married Gerhardt Bitter in Susank, Kansas. He died on December 2, 2007 in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors Include: One Son, Jerry (& wife Donna) Bitter of Garden City, Kansas; Two Grandsons, Jason (& Amy) Bitter of Overland Park, Kansas, Gregg (& Natalie) Bitter of Olathe, Kansas One Granddaughter , Tracy (& David) Wapp of Bloomington, Illinois, Two Great-grandchildren Brevin & Avery Wapp of Bloomington, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Hubert Radke & a sister, Rachael Keister.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Galatia with Pastors Lyle Stuehrenberg & Adam Wutka presiding.
Friends may call from 1:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
Interment will be at the Fairview Township Cemetery in Galatia, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to Esther Bitter Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
