Elnora Elizabeth Sloan Butler, age 89, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Homestead Health & Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas. She was born May 24, 1923 in Pawnee County, Kansas the daughter of George and Harriet Myers Hahn. A resident of Garden City since 1945 she was a farm wife and homemaker.
She was a member of the Catholic faith, a Charter member of the Happy Homemakers FCE and a Charter member and Past President of the Eagles Auxiliary all of Garden City. She enjoyed cake decorating, dancing, craft sewing, deer and coyote hunting, was a 4-H cooking leader and loved to play card games.
On July 11, 1943 she married Gene R. Sloan in Larned, Kansas. He died July 20, 1979 in Garden City, Kansas. Then on September 19, 1980 she married Verle W. Butler in Raton, New Mexico. He died June 28, 1999 in Garden City, Kansas.
Survivors include:
One Son, Jay Sloan of Garnett, Kansas;
Three Daughters, Jo Rinehart of Lakin, Kansas,
Kaye Nichols of Holcomb, Kansas and
Sue Keeny of Garden City, Kansas;
One Sister, Marie Unruh of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado;
Eight Grandchildren, Two Step-Grandchildren, Sixteen Great-Grandchildren, Thirteen Step-Great Grandchildren, Two Great-Great-Grandchildren and Seven Step-Great-Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Seven Brothers, One sister, Three Sons-In-Law and One Daughter-In-Law.
Vigil and Rosary services will be held at 7:00pm on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the
St. Mary Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 3:00pm-8:00pm on Saturday and Noon-5:00pm Sunday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorials Gardens Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
The family requests that memorials be given to the Eagles Auxiliary Cancer Fund or to the American Heart Association both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
