Elizabeth M. Wagner, age 96, died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at her daughter's home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on June 3, 1911 in Cripple Creek, Colorado the daughter of Paul Bernice & Barbara Myrtle Watson Hinds. She grew up in Cripple Creek and Ft. Collins, graduating from Ft. Collins High School and Colorado Agriculture & Mechanical College. A resident of Garden City since 2000 moving from Denver, Colorado, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Montclair United Methodist Church in Denver. Other memberships include PEO, United Methodist Women and the Fortnightly Club of Lamar, Colorado. She enjoyed her family and many friends in both Kansas & Colorado.
On February 25, 1934, she married James E. Wagner in Ft. Collins, Colorado, living in Springfield, CO until the start of WWII. She and her children lived in Ft. Collins during James' service in the U.S. Navy. Following the war, they resided in Lamar, Colorado, until 1963, moving to Denver where James passed away on March 1, 1994.
Survivors Include: One Son, Emery Wagner of Sweet Home, Oregon; One Daughter, Barbara Sue Swords of Garden City, Kansas; 8 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren & 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Mac & Phil Hinds; a sister, Verna Cuthbertson; and a granddaughter, Susan Fitzsimons.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, KS with the Rev. David Bell presiding.
There will be no calling times.
Inurnment will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Garden City, KS.
The family requests memorials be given to the Montclair United Methodist Church, 1195 Newport St., Denver, CO, 80220 or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City.
