Eldon Long, 89, of Leoti, Kansas passed away at the Greeley County Hospital on February 6th. He was born on July 14, 1919 to Lewis Leonard and Mary Long in Burns, Kansas and served in the Marine Corp during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Eldon was a masonry contractor in Leoti since the 1950's.
He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine and a brother Lawrence Dale Long of Newton.
Eldon is survived by his brothers James Long (Gloria) of Leoti and Hugh Long (Judy) of Newton, sons Keith Long (Bobbie) of Weddington, NC, Kelsey Long (Sally) of Chattanooga, TN and daughter Mary Jo Pickering (Kirk) of Defiance, OH. Eldon had four grandchildren: Eric Long of Las Vegas, Justin Long (Angie) of Plymouth, MN, Jamie Ort (Thomas) of Defiance, OH, and Adrianne Shelhamer (Ros) of Miamisburg, OH. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and 2 great-grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends in Leoti will be announced at a later time in the Leoti Standard. Graveside services will be held at the Pleasant Center Cemetery in Burns, KS. The date and time of the services will be announced later.
