Elaine Fenton

Garden City, Kansas Elaine Fenton, age 85, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Bellevue Medical Center in Bellevue, Nebraska. She was born on October 4, 1926 in Everest, Kansas the daughter of George and Elva Gipe Sawyer. Elaine graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors of Science degree. A resident of Garden City since 1957 she had been an Administrative Assistant at Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas for several years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, PEO Chapter FF, the Community Concert Association, the Finney County Historical Society, the Friends of the Library, and the Friends of the Zoo all of Garden City, Kansas and she was a member of the KU Alumni Association. She had been married to Dr. Robert M. Fenton for 28 years. Survivors Include: One Son, Tom (& Nancy) Fenton of Charlotte, North Carolina; One Daughter, Annette Everhart (& Brian) Brown of Omaha, Nebraska; One Brother, Gerald Sawyer of Santa Barbara, California; Five Grandchildren, Kyle Everhart of Omaha, Nebraska, Kristen Everhart of Omaha, Nebraska, Faith Everhart of Omaha, Nebraska, Cameron Lilyquist of Raleigh, North Carolina and Kristin Hague of Raleigh, North Carolina; Eight Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Steve Fenton and two sisters, Marjorie Dunn and Doris Geiger. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, April 16, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas. Friends may call from 1:00pm-8:00pm on Sunday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church or to the Finney County Library both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
