E. Gail Sims, age 91, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at the High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas. She was born on November 23, 1919 in Hayward, Wisconsin, the daughter of John "Jack" and Helen Gail Hazelton Walker. A resident of Garden City, Kansas since 1952 moving from Lawrence, Kansas, she was a secretary for USD 457 in Garden City, Kansas. She was an active member of the Church Of The Nazarene in Garden City, Kansas and was a Sunday School Teacher, member of the Church Choir, Church Board Member. Gail was also a member of the Gay Nighters EHU. She also enjoyed painting. On August 25, 1942 she married John M. Sims in Hayward, Wisconsin. He passed away on April 7, 1993 in Garden City, Kansas. Other Survivors Include her Two Daughters - Sandra & Val Petrov of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Beth McGraw of Garden City, Kansas, One Brother - Derrick Walker of Pacific Grove, California, Four Grandchildren - Troy McGraw, Monica McGraw, Darrin McGraw, Heidi Henson, Eleven Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, and Husband. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Church Of The Nazarene in Garden City, Kansas with Rev. Curtis Coombs presiding. Friends may call from 10:00am-8:00pm Thursday with the family receiving friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm Thursday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Interment will be held in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. The family requests that memorials be given to the Church Of The Nazarene in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
