Doralee Hermocillo, age 56, died Friday, April 2, 2010 at her home in Dodge City, Kansas. She was born August 6, 1953 in Wheatland, Wyoming the daughter of Bonefacio and Santana Duran Gonzales. She received her education through the University of Kansas and Fort Hays State University. A resident of Dodge City since 1989 moving from Garden City and Hugoton, she was the Director of the 21st Century After School Program for USD 210 in Hugoton, Kansas.
Dora was a member of Our Lady Of Guadalupe Cathedral in Dodge City, Kansas. She had formerly belonged to the Rotary Club, the Optimist Club, KACHA, the State of Kansas Mental Health Commission, was a KHCC board member and had worked as a counselor at Job Corps, Southwest Guidance Center, and St. Francis Drug and Alcohol Center. She enjoyed working with people, specifically in the areas of education and social services. Dora was a dedicated mother and grandmother who enjoyed crocheting, reading research and spoiling her grandchildren.
On May 30, 1969 she married Sam Hermocillo in Garden City, Kansas, for a period of twenty years.
Survivors include: Two Sons, Joseph (& wife, Rebecca) Hermocillo of Pueblo, Colorado and Alex (& Gayle Glenn) Hermocillo of Medicine Lodge, Kansas; Two Daughters, Sheila (& husband, Mario) Sanchez of Dodge City, Kansas and Cyndi (& husband, John) Legg of Topeka, Kansas; Five Brothers, Orlando Gonzales of New Mexico, Ray Gonzales of New Mexico, Reuben Gonzales of Garden City, Kansas, Damian Gonzales of Salt Lake City, Utah and Greg Gonzales of Chandler, Arizona; Three Sisters, Margaret Gonzales of Manhattan, Kansas, Benita Kulick of Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Ellie Schutt of Torrington, Wyoming and Twelve Grandchildren, Janet Mayo, Staton and Bekah-Jo Clark-Hermocillo, Alexis, Thomas, Hayden and Daniel Sanchez, Taylor, Caralee & Hayley Legg, Kaiser & Keirsie Carlile. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Joe Gonzales.
Rosary & Vigil services will be held at 6:30pm on Monday, April 5, 2010 at the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas with Father Ted Skalsky presiding.
Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.
The family requests memorials be given to the Dora Hermocillo Memorial Fund in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
