Garden City, Kansas Dixie Lee Baker, age 75, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born November 24, 1933 in Guymon, Oklahoma the daughter of Ennis S. and Leona G. McWhirter Burton. A resident of Garden City since 1942 moving from Hardesty, Oklahoma she had been the District Manager for Field Enterprises working with the World Book and Child Craft book sales. She later was the District Manager of Avon covering counties from Garden City North to Nebraska and West to Colorado. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Builders Sunday School Class. She was a former Sunday School teacher and a Charter member of the Life History Writing Club at the Finey County Senior Center and she had recently been elected the Republican Precinct Committee Woman for Finney County. On August 26, 1951 she married Robert L. Baker in Denver, Colorado. He survives. Other Survivors Include: One Son, Bobby Baker of Garden City Kansas: Three Daughters, Stacy Regan of Garden City, Kansas, Rebecca Nicholson of Lenexa, Kansas and Mariann Wapp of Lenexa, Kansas; Eight Grandchildren and One Great-Grandchild. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas with the Rev. David Bell presiding. Friends may call from 10:00am-8:00pm on Wednesday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Church or to the Mamie Baker Scholarship Fund at GCCC both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
