Charles Mayer

Charles W. Mayer, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Prowers Medical Center in Lamar, Colorado. He was born on April 14, 1930 in Crowley County, Colorado, the son of William Charles and Grace Collins Mayer. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1958 moving from Crowley County, Colorado, he owned and operated the A&W Drive In from 1970 until 1983 and from 1983 until 2003 he owned and operated Mayer Liquor both in Scott City, Kansas. On January 9, 1956 he married Doris Marie Biel in Marienthal, Kansas. She passed away on January 19, 2001 in Scott City, Kansas. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus council 5212 both of Scott City, Kansas. Survivors include his Two Sons - Rick & Jill Mayer of Brighton, Colorado, Jeff & Veronica Mayer of Scott City, Kansas, One Daughter - Jana & Shannon Rushton of Holly, Colorado, One Brother in Law - Calvin Sefton of Broomfield, Colorado, Nine Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Wife and One Sister - Wilma. Vigil Services will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012. Funeral Services will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 with Fr. Bernard Felix presiding. Memorials may be given to the Knights of Columbus % Price & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
