Carol Jeannine Schmidt, age 57, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado. She was born on October 24, 1957 in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of F. Gordon & Alta Jeannine Clinton Schmidt. A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, she grew up on the farm southwest of Shallow Water, Kansas and attended grade school in Shallow Water and then attended high school at Scott County High School. Carol went to Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas and became a cosmetologist. She was a hair dresser for several years. She moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas where she worked as a florist before returning to Scott City to open her own flower shop. She had a love of music. She sang in a choir in Arkansas where she traveled with the choir to Vienna, Austria to perform. She also traveled to England on another occasion to perform with the choir. Carol also sang “God Bless America” at the beginning of each Little Britches rodeo performance for several years when it was held in Scott City. Carol was an avid KU fan, and very rarely missed a basketball game on TV, and attended home games when her health would allow. She leaves behind her brother, Gary and wife Sandy of Scott City; sisters, Berneice and husband Jim Burch of Spearman, Tx and Marilyn Schmidt and companion Rick Wright of Scott City. Nephew, Daniel and wife Kim Schmidt of Blue Rapids, Kansas, and niece, Tiffany Schmidt of Scott City. Two Great Nieces, Callie & Lexi Schmidt and One Great Nephew, Spencer all of Blue Rapids, Kansas and numerous close and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her Father, Mother and Infant Sister. Funeral Services will be held at the Prairie View Church of the Brethren in Friend, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 with the Rev. Jon Tuttle & Rev. Don Williams presiding. Memorials in Lieu of flowers may be given to the Prairie View Church of the Brethren, Scott County EMT’s or Pence Community Church % Price & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Prairie View Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Friend, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
