Betty Jean Dittmer, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at Greeley County Health Center in Tribune, Kansas. Betty Jean was born February 12, 1923 in Pawnee County, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer Bryan & Ona Muriel McCandles Hawes. A resident of Greeley County since 1953 moving from Belpre, Kansas, she was a teacher and farm wife. Betty Jean's memberships include- First Baptist Church- Tribune, Kansas Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star- Tribune, Kansas South Colony E.H.U.- Tribune, Kansas VFW Ladies Auxiliary And various bridge clubs in Greeley County On November 29, 1953 she married Thomas Lee Dittmer at Belpre, Kansas. He died October 25, 2004 at Tribune, Kansas. Betty Jean's surviving family members include- Two Sons and spouse- Bryan Lee Dittmer- Seattle, Washington Loren Robert & Beverly Dittmer- Tribune, Kansas Two Daughters and spouses- LeJean & Ronald Blevins- Bella Vista, Arkansas Carrie Murl & Randel Wolfe- Tribune, Kansas Ten Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bryana Schmidt, in 2007. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. ( M.D.T. ) Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Tribune, Kansas with the Reverend Mark Randolph officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery with VFW Ladies Auxiliary graveside rites. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas. Memorials may be given to The Greeley County Health Center, Greeley County Library or The First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
