Betty Lou (Geyer) Baker, age 90, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Wichita County Hospital Leoti, Kansas. She was born on August 26, 1931 at the Family Homestead on the White Woman Creek in Wichita County, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer and Lola (Coffman) Geyer. Betty graduated from Wichita County High School in 1949 and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Alter Society both of Marienthal, Kansas.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, being a farm wife, growing flowers, baking, playing cards, and traveling. In her travels, she visited Malaysia, Japan, Germany, Washington DC, Hawaii, Canada, and many other places. She enjoyed amusement parks and a roller coaster always put a smile on her face.
On November 22, 1949 she married Louis Joseph Baker at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marienthal, Kansas. He passed away on February 18, 2014 in Leoti, Kansas.
She is survived by her seven children: Maurita (Jim) Koerperich of Garden City, Steve (Janice) Baker of Marienthal, Melvin (Carlotta) Baker of Marienthal, Kenny (Sherri) Baker of Scott City, Tammy (Scott) Martin of Holcomb, Lori (Major) Graff of Marienthal, and Michael (Aileen) Baker of Walnut Creek, California; 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, sister Norma Lee (Howard) Siebert of Sharon Springs, Kansas, and sister-in-laws Sharon Geyer of Shadow Hills, California, Nellie Scheffe of Marienthal, and Theresa Baker of Colby, Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter-in-law Jane Baker, grandson Nathan Scott Koerperich, and brothers Virgil, Harold, Junior (Elmer), Lloyd, Arthur, and Sydney.
Vigil and rosary service will be held Thursday, Nov. 18th at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be, Friday, Nov. 19th at 10:00am; both services at St. Mary Church in Marienthal, KS with Fr. Timothy Hickey presiding. Services will be live streamed on Western Kansas Catholic Facebook page.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Mary Cemetery Project, Marienthal, KS or Wichita County Long Term Care Center in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, PO Box 161, Leoti, Kansas, 67861.
Interment will be in the St. Mary Church Cemetery in Marienthal, Kansas.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 10:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, 4th & J Street, Leoti, Kansas.
