Bertie had many roles in her lifetime, and the foundation of those roles was her love and service of God. Bertie, as a wife & mom, always made sure her family was safe, happy, and healthy. Whether that meant having everyday essentials or the knowledge we needed so that someday we could take care of ourselves. Grandma Bertie made sure the grandkids were well-rounded as kids and as adults. She made sure everyone had a bible so they would know and follow their Savior. Tea Parties with Pepsi of course, to remind them to slow down and enjoy the moment. Gifts came from love in the form of cinnamon rolls, care bears, denim quilts, or simply a card or text on their birthday. Great Grandma Bertie loved watching the new little additions to the family grow & Giggle. Bertie always would open her arms wide and tell us that she loved us THIS MUCH!!!
Bertie served as an RN, WCHC Director of Nursing, Community Case Manager, and Sunday School teacher. She was a huge part of Life for Christ, disaster drills to help train, and many vacation Bible schools. Bertie took older and younger medical professionals under her wing to make sure she taught them all she had learned and experienced over the years.
