Bernard G. (B.G., Bernie) Kreutzer, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Wichita County Long Term Care in Leoti, Kansas. Bernie was born June 19, 1917 at Liebenthal, Kansas, the son of John & Amelia Herman Kreutzer. He was a retired farmer/stockman and had been a Wichita County resident since 1925.
Bernie was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus American Legion and the VFW all of Leoti. He was also a member of Kansas Charlois Breeders Assn, Kansas Livestock Assn., Southwest Royalty Assn. and the Eagles Lodge in Garden City, Kansas.
On October 15, 1946 he married Charlotte Bilbery at Marienthal, Kansas. She passed away on January 18, 1982 at Leoti, Kansas. On August 11, 1987 he married Ferne Katherine "Kay" Prewitt at Los Cruses, New Mexico. She passed away on March 16, 2008 in Garden City, Kansas. Bernie's surviving family members include Three sons and their wives Gary & Sherry Kreutzer- Leoti, Kansas John & Ann Kreutzer- Haswell, Colorado Daren & Janis Kreutzer- Leoti, Kansas One daughter and her husband Charlene & Don VanBurkleo- Wichita, Kansas One brother Jerome Kreutzer- Yuma, Arizona Two sisters- Mary Bauck- Leoti, Kansas Lydia Schoenberger- WaKeeney, Kansas Twelve grandchildren and Twenty-nine great grandchildren His parents, both wives, two brothers, Bill & Alf Kreutzer, seven sisters, Anna Herrman, Loretta Kessler, Ida Biel, Bertha Werth, Anne Kreutzer, Tina Klaus and Ludwina Kreutzer, one daughter, Nancy Marie Kreutzer and three grandchildren, Christen Kreutzer, Joshua Kreutzer and Brandon Kreutzer preceeded him in death.
Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2010 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Leoti, Kansas. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Leoti, Kansas with Father Benjamin Martin officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Marienthal, Kansas with full military honors provided by the United States Army Funeral Detail from Fort Riley, Kansas.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 10:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Wichita County Long Term Care or the Wichita County Rodeo Assn. in care of the funeral home.
