Barbara Thompson

Barbara Jean Thompson, age 63, went to be with her Lord on March 23, 2010, following a courageous four year battle with cancer. She was born on July 20, 1946, in Garden City Ks. She was the youngest child and only daughter to the late Alvin and Mabel Jackson. She was a U.S. Postal Service rural mail carrier. Barbara attended the Bible Christian Church in Garden City, Ks. Her deep set belief in God was a source of strength that carried her through her long illness. She took part in numerous bible study and prayer groups over the years. Barbara thoroughly enjoyed participating in trail rides with good friends, her trusty mule Buster and dog Shadow. She, also, relished time spent with her family and coming up with new ways for her grandchildren to have fun. Barbara is survived by son Garth Thompson and granddaughter Reagan of Garden City, Ks; son and daughter-in-law Walter and Cindy Thompson, grandsons Dakota, Dillon, Dallas and granddaughter Kassidy of Augusta, Ks; daughter and son-in-law Abigail and Sean Brungardt, grandsons Xander and Zane of Wichita, Ks; Brothers Lowell (Judy) Jackson of Winnebago, Mo; Merle Jackson of Valentine, Ne; and Stanley (Mary Lou) Jackson of Garden City, Ks. Proceeded in death by grandson, Dale Ray Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, March 26, 2010 @ the Bible Christian Church in Garden City with Rev. Jeff Starkey presiding. Memorials may be given to the Miles Of Smiles Program in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
