Barbara Southern

Barbara Southern, age 71, died on July 12, 2017 at the Lund House Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, Arizona.  She was born on June 30, 1946 in Garden City, Kansas the daughter of Dewey Alison and Luella Mae Base Auten.

She was a member of the Southern Baptist faith, past president of the American Business Women’s Association and the Lions Club International both of Atlanta, Georgia.

She was united in marriage to John Emerson Southern on June 6, 1965 in the Southern Baptist Church in Garden City, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on July 12, 2013.

Survivors include:

    One Brother            Dewey Auten of Phoenix, Arizona

    One Sister            Jackie LaChance of Maricopa, Arizona

    One Nephew            Jason Auten of Arizona

    One Niece             Denice Piwowar of Maricopa, Arizona

    13 Great Nieces and Nephews, several surviving aunts, uncles, cousins, and her loving             extended Southern Family.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10 am at the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of 620 N. Main St. Garden City, Kansas 67846.

There will be no calling hours.
