Alvera Elizabeth Litzenberger, age 88, died Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the Terrace Garden Care Center in Garden City, Kansas. She was born July 2, 1918 in Susank, Kansas the daughter of Edward & Ida Popp Ochs. A resident of Garden City since 1931, moving from Susank, Kansas, she was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Garden City and enjoyed gardening, sewing & quilting.
On June 16, 1937 she married Henry Litzenberger in Garden City, Kansas. He died Feb. 3, 1988 in Garden City. Survivors include, one son, Verle Litzenberger of Garden City, Kansas, Two Daughters, Evelyn Strickland of Moore, Oklahoma, and Carol Whitehurst of Garden City, Kansas, Three Brothers, Walter Ochs of Garden City, Kansas, Leo Ochs of Cawker City, Kansas and Leroy Ochs of Warsaw, Missouri, Five Sisters , Lenora Wartman of Ingalls, Kansas, Edna Crase of Garden City, Kansas, Esther Lewis of Stratton, Colorado, Wilma Guy of Longmont, Colorado and Barbara Petr of Blue Rapids, Kansas, Five Grandchildren and Four Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters & 2 infant sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Friday, January 26, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with the Revs David Bell and Brenda Fluellen presiding.
Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.
Friends may call from 10:00am-8:00pm Thursday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.
The family requests Memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church or to St. Catherine Hospice both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
