Alberta Radnor

Alberta Bell (Matheny) Radnor, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on November 1, 1924 four miles southeast of Wallace, Kansas, the daughter of William Earl and Flora Bell (Haddock) Matheny. A lifetime resident of Logan and Scott County, Kansas, she assisted her husband Raymond with the family farm, taught school for 25 years both in Logan and Scott County and in 1978, upon retiring from teaching, worked for a tax firm for the next 11 years. In 1990 she opened her own tax office and operated it out of her home until the year 2000. She attended college at Fort Hays State and obtained her B.S. in 1972 and her M.S. in 1976. From 1980 to 1982 she served as president of the Beta Kappa Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma International Honor Society for Women Educators. Her memberships include the St. Francis Chapel in Russell Springs, Kansas, The Delta Kappa Gamma International Honor Society for Women Educators, Beta Kappa Chapter. On May 29, 1944 she married Raymond J. Radnor in Oakley, Kansas. He passed away on September 11, 2008 in Scott City, Kansas. Survivors include her Two Sons - Joe Radnor of Scott City, Kansas, Dwayne Radnor of Scott City, Kansas; One Daughter - Peggy Jean Smith of Garden City, Kansas; Seven Grandsons - James B. Radnor of Scott City, Kansas, Travis Radnor of Blair, Nebraska, Michael Radnor of Kansas City, Kansas, Cpl. William Radnor of Yuma, Arizona, Robert "Tux" Smith of Mayetta, Kansas, Nicholas Smith of Garden City, Kansas, Nathan Smith of Mission, Kansas; Two Granddaughters - Mary Claire Radnor of Miami, Florida, Terrell R. Rohr of Andover, Kansas and Six Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband - Raymond, one son â Richard W. "Jerry" Radnor, one granddaughter â Erin Radnor, two sisters and one brother. Funeral Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009 with Rev. Dennis Carter and Fr. Don Martin presiding. Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the St. Francis Chapel in Russell Springs, Kansas % Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
