Preston Lee Harne, age 74, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born August 8, 1934 in Hagerstown, Maryland the son of Leo and Pearl Mundy Harne. A resident of Garden City since May of 2009 moving from Buffalo, New York he was a retired manager of three roller skating rinks where he taught several students figures and dance. Many of his students went on to receive national skating awards.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Amistad, New Mexico and was a U.S. Army Sergeant serving in the Korean War. He enjoyed his family, teaching skating and collecting Department 56 Villages.
On April 1, 1965, he married Francis Rose Keesler in Annapolis, Maryland. She died on February 18, 2004 in Amistad, New Mexico.
Survivors Include:
Two Daughters, Dianne Kim (& Randy) Sutterfield of Garden City, Kansas and
Robyn Ann (& Ken) Swan of Cheektowaga, New York;
One Son, Eric Douglas (& Kim) Harne of Fairhaven, Massachusetts;
One Brother, Don (& Mary) Harne of Fredricksburg, Maryland;
Three Grandsons, Ryan Pendergrace, Danton and Shane Sutterfield
Three Granddaughters, Katahrina Pendergrace, Coral Lynn & Casey Rose Swan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Harne.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date @ the Hauser family ranch in Amistad, New Mexico.
