James McRae

James LeRoy McRae, age 95, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. He was born October 17, 1912 at Elk, Kansas, the son of James W. & Modena Harder McRae. He was a farmer and stockman, retiring in 1996, and had been a Wichita County resident since 1933 moving from Chase County. LeRoy's memberships include First Presbyterian Church- Leoti, Kansas 50 Year member of the Anthem Masonic Lodge- Scott City, Kansas ISIS Shrine Temple- Salina, Kansas He was a former Wichita County Commissioner and school board member and he was one of the founders of High Plains Enterprises Feedlot in Wichita County. On August 9, 1939 he married Emma Daniel at Goodland, Kansas. She passed away on November 21, 2005 in Leoti, Kansas. LeRoy's survivors include One son & his wife Jim & Elizabeth McRae- Bandera, Texas One grandson- Darren McRae- Leoti, Kansas One granddaughter and her husband- Adrienne & Werner Burch- Leoti, Kansas And five great grandchildren- Drake McRae- Leoti, Kansas Draven McRae- Leoti, Kansas Skyler Burch- Leoti, Kansas Brannon Burch- Leoti, Kansas Brooklyn Burch- Leoti, Kansas He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church of Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Paul McNall officiating. Burial will be in Leoti cemetery in Leoti, Kansas. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, 1:00 to 8:00 Monday and 10:00 to 11:00 Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Wichita County Amusement Assn. Or The Wichita County Long Term Care Unit in care of the funeral home.
